Director's Note
We had so much fun working with Alejandra de Coss on the custom print she designed just for this dress. The black-on-white and white-on-black marble prints add the perfect bit of architectural edge to this very feminine shape.
Miss Marble is part of the collection named “Construction Techniques.” I was inspired by industrial elements and industrial construction materials like marble, bricks, and concrete. When I was creating the garment and forming my inspiration I wanted to create a paronomasia or word play. Throughout the whole collection the construction and sewing techniques I used for the garments represents the vast difference between the materials for inspiration and how the design came into fruition. I wanted to convey the toughness of the construction materials as inspiration against the softness of the fabrics. Through the structured shapes and feminine details, such as the exposed shoulders and the peplum I was able to display this juxtaposition between hard and soft.
